Maria Ramirez, age 57, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009 at Saints Medical Center in Lowell. For 33 years, she was the beloved wife of Nelson Ramirez.
She was born in Puerto Rico on Dec. 30, 1951, a daughter of the late Juan Jimenez and Martina Cubero. Maria moved to Lowell from Puerto Rico in 1971. Maria was very dedicated to her Catholic faith and was an active member of the former Nuestra Senora del Carmen Parish in Lowell where she taught CCD and also served as a eucharistic minister. She currently attended St. Patrick Church.
Maria loved spending time with her family and enjoyed playing bingo and dominos.
Besides her husband, Nelson, she is survived by her two children, Marinel and Larry Ramirez of Lowell; ten sisters and brothers, Jesus, Antonia and Juan Jimenez, all of Puerto Rico, Ana Ramirez of Lowell, Rafael, Gloria, Milagros and Armando Jimenez, Annie and Felipe Aviles, all of Puerto Rico; her mother-in-law, Paulina Salcedo of Lowell; also many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Elena Ramirez and Josefina Jimenez.
Relatives and friends may call at the M. R. LAURIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St., Lowell on Tuesday, Sept. 15 from 4 to 8pm. Funeral services and interment will take place in Puerto Rico. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Saints Medical Center Foundation, Dialysis Fund, Hospital Drive, Lowell, MA 01852.
