Mrs. Ruth A. (Hinsman) Salamone, 93, a former Franklin resident, died Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009, at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, following an extended period of failing health. She was the wife of Louis Salamone, who died in 1979.
Born in Concord, on Nov. 27, 1915, a daughter of the late Ernest B. and Alice (Whitney) Hinsman, she was raised and educated in Concord, and was a graduate of the former Framingham State Teachers College.
She worked in the retail banking field for many years, and retired as the vice president of the former North East Federal Savings Bank on Cape Cod.
She enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and also enjoyed knitting.
She is survived by a son, Louis Salamone Jr. of Mountainside, N.J.; a daughter, Carol A. Salamone of Cranston, R.I.; three granddaughters, Rachael Bassick of Mendon, Ellen Whitney Cagnassola of Fanwood, N.J., Heather Courtney Wolfson of Virginia Beach, Va.; four great-grandchildren, Jake Ryan Faenza, Adam Joseph Bassick, Mary Ellen Cagnassola and Michelle Cagnassola.
She was also the sister of the late Ernest Hinsman and Dorothea Thompson.
A private graveside service will be held at the family lot in Ancient Cemetery in Yarmouth. There are no calling hours.
