GLOUCESTER: Benjamin N. Brewer, 54, died Friday, September 11, 2009 in the Beverly Hospital following a brief illness. He was the husband of Cynthia (Clark) Brewer.
Born in Gloucester on September 4, 1955 he was the son of the late Janice (Egan) Brewer. A lifelong resident of Gloucester, he attended public schools. Ben was a wonderful father and loving husband and will be missed more than words could ever say.
Ben was employed for the City of Gloucester in the Parks and Recreation Department for eleven years, where he made many dear friends. He enjoyed spending time with his family and attending his daughters sporting events. He loved to camp in the White Mountains and was especially fond of the Kancamagus Highway’s Lower Falls. He also enjoyed watching Boston sports, golf, listening to classic rock and taking his Sunday morning “Jazz Rides”.
In addition to his wife of twenty years, he is survived by three daughters, Kelly M. Clark and her fiance, Alex Jepson of Beverly, Katie L. Brewer and Keri L. Brewer both of Gloucester, two grandsons, Jason and John Jepson of Beverly, a sister, Jane and her husband, Ed Gagnon of Palm Bay, FL, two brothers, Frank and his wife, Maryanne Brewer of Rockport and Sam Brewer of Loveland, CO and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by a sister-in-law, Linda Wagner.
His funeral services will be held on Tuesday in the Community Church of East Gloucester, Chapel St. at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Monday evening in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle St., Gloucester from 4-7 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Interment will be held in the Beech Grove Cemetery.
