NEW BEDFORD ... Hazel S. (Dakin) Lees-Thompson, of Dartmouth, 90, diedWednesday August 13, 2003 after a long illness. She was the wife of George E.Thompson. She died at the Blaire House in New Bedford. She was born in New Bedforddaughter of the late John Dakin, Sr. and Mary A. (Tomlinson) Dakin.

She was alife long resident of New Bedford and a member of the People's Christian Church inNew Bedford. She was formerly employed by Berkshire Hathaway of New Bedford asa cloth inspector until her retirement. She was formerly employed by AcushnetCo. in New Bedford. She owned Hazel's Hobby Hut in Dartmouth. Mrs. Thompsonwas an avid painter.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by 1 son: James Leesof MI, 3 daughters: Joyce Lauze of TX, Barbara Zanger of MI, Lucinda J. Gravelle ofMA, 3 sisters: Doris Denham of RI, R. Lillian Karwoski and Edith Faber both of MA,Several grandchildren, many great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was sisterof the late John Dakin, Jr., Leslie Dakin, Sr., and Wilfred Dakin.,

At the request of the family calling hours are omitted. AMemorial Service will be held Saturday, August 23, at People's Christian Church, 2240 AcushnetAve., New Bedford, at 11:00 A.M.. Interment Service will be private.In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to Alzheimers Association, 36 Cameron Avenue, Cambridge, MA 02140-1102.
