Lida M.,Contillo, 92, of Hedley Avenue in Johnston died Thursday, September 10, 2009 at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital in North Providence. She was the wife of Michael E. Contillo. They were married for 57 years.
Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late James H. and Eva M. (Bailey) Richards. She had been a resident of Johnston her whole life.
She was a member of the Johnston Senior Center. She enjoyed reading,crocheting, sewing, traveling and dining out. During WWII she was a welder. In 1972 she entered a contest for having the longest hair sponsored by the National Enquirer and placed second.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her sisters, Ettie Fortin of Johnston and Charlotte Hall of Bear Creek, NC and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Hazel Threshier and James Richards.
Her funeral service will be held Monday at 11:30am in the Anderson Winfield Funeral Home, Rt 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park Cemetery in Johnston. Visitation Sunday 5-7pm and Monday morning 11-11:30am. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, 200 High Service Avenue, North Providence, RI 02911.
