Obituary

Methuen, MA- Ruth M."Nana Ruth"(Neary) Bannister, 94 and 1/4, died Tuesday September 8, 2009 at the Henry C. Nevins Home and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Cambridge, MA on May 23, 1915, Ruth was the daughter of Fredrick and Marie (Strupat) Neary. Ruth resided for many years in Providence, RI before moving back to Massachusetts. For 10 years she was an inspector for Raytheon in Andover.
Ruth was known for her great sense of humor and for making the best chocolate chip cookies “in the world”. She enjoyed shopping and listening to music and loved spending time with her family.
The widow of the late Gordon G. Bannister, Ruth is survived by her daughter Marie J. Vitulli, 5 grandchildren, Carlene, Robert, John, Joseph, Ruth and her granddaughter in-law, Debbie who also provided loving care for her, as well as 8 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Ruth was pre-deceased by her son-in-law John J. Vitulli Sr.
The family would like to thank all of the nurses and staff at the Nevins Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center for all of the generous support and care they showed to Ruth during her time there. As an expression of sympathy, contributions may be made in Ruth’s name to the Henry C. Nevins Home and Rehabilitation Center, 10 Ingalls Court, Methuen, MA 01844.
ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends may pay their respects on Saturday morning, September 12, 2009 from 8:30-10:30 at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St, in Methuen, with a Funeral Service to follow at 10:30 at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
