Barbara Bryan Goode, 72, of Tifton died Thursday, September 10, 2009, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 13, 2009, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Jason Jones and Rev. Larry Layfield will officiate with burial to follow in Tift Memorial Gardens. Rod Griffin, Randy Giddens, Charles Newell, Mike Johnston, Stanley Arrington and Michael Thompson will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of New River Baptist Church. The family will receive friends and family on Saturday, September 12, 2009, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Goode was born on September 4, 1937 in Ashburn and was the daughter of V. W. Bryan and Omie Lee Calhoun Bryan, both deceased. She was a homemaker and a member of New River Baptist Church, where she enjoyed working in the nursery. She had lived in Tifton for 60 years and was a pink lady at Tift Regional Medical Center for many years.
Mrs. Goode is survived by her husband, Wallace Goode of Tifton; one son and daughter-in-law, David and Retha Goode of Tifton; one daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Mike Douglas of Pensacola, Florida; two sisters, Myrtie Shivers of West Palm Beach, Florida and Nell Shivers of Orlando, Florida; four grandchildren, Dustin Goode and his wife, Miranda, Christy Richardson and her husband, Kris, Jonathan Douglas and Jennifer Douglas; and one great grandchild, Gracie Jo Goode.
