GLOUCESTER: Rosalie Ida (Lucido) McEachern, 67, passed away peacefully at the Addison Gilbert Hospital, Tuesday, September 8, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving husband Lawrence McEachern along with many of her family.
Born in Gloucester, December 14, 1941, Rosalie was the devoted daughter of the late Gaspar and Rose (Piscitello) Lucido.
Rosalie attended Gloucester schools. She worked for many years at the Children’s Shop as well as Goldman’s on Main Street. For a few years she had worked at Cyrk. Recently, she had been employed by Action, having devoted herself to giving loving care to all of her clients.
Rosalie loved to give of herself to others and did so with her husband as together for many years they would serve meals at the Legion on Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. For many years, together they served coffee and donuts on Saturday mornings to the residents at Seacoast Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Rosalie and her loving husband traveled the world visiting native people. She was small in stature but big in heart. Even though she had no children of her own, she met, loved and helped children all over the world from Peru to Africa, Alps to the Andes and Croatia to Guatemala.
In addition to her husband of forty-seven years, she is survived by a very large family who include, her two sisters Mary McCoy wife of Craig of Gloucester, Theresa Doyle wife of Robert of New Hampshire, three brothers Salvatore Lucido, husband of Janet, Joseph Lucido husband of Joyce, and Thomas Lucido, companion of Julie Williams, a brother-in-law Donald McEachern, sister-in-law Margaret “Peg” McEachern all of Gloucester. She was a beautiful and loving sister and wonderful aunt to many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, each one was special to her. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her father and mother-in-law Donald A. and Elva McEachern, brother ,Jack A. Lucido, brother-in-law Robert McEachern, sister-in-law Marion McEachern and brother and sister-in-laws Robert and Alma “Sis” Hall along with two nephews Tim Lucido and Kevin Rose.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday morning in the Calvary Cemetery at 9:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Addison Gilbert Hospital Oncology Department, 298 Washington Street, Gloucester or VNA Care Network and Hospice, 8 Angle Street, Gloucester.
