Obituary

UXBRIDGE__James Robert Bates, 80, formerly of Worcester died Friday, September 4,202009 in Beaumont Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Uxbridge. His wife, Anna (O’Connell) Bates died in 2007.
He leaves a son, James M. Bates of Worcester; three daughters, Nancy Joslyn and her husband, Donald of Auburn, Kathleen Thompson and her husband, Eric of Jefferson and Maureen Brenner and her husband, Kevin of Shrewsbury; nine grandchildren, Laurie, Michael, Lindsey, Carl, Ryan, Luke, Johanna, Maria and Emma; three great grandchildren, Grace, Faith, Michael and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, David C. Bates, Jr. He was born in Worcester a son of David C. and Catherine (O’Neill) Bates.
Mr. Bates was an environmental engineer retiring from UMass Memorial Hospital. He graduated from Commerce High School. James was very proud of his Irish heritage. The family would like to thank the staff of Beaumont Rehabilitation and Nursing Center particularly the Salmon Hospice team for their kind and compassionate care provided to their father.
