Kathryn F. (Carroll) Murray, age 91, of Somerville, formerly a long-time resident of Winchester, passed away Sept. 9 at Lahey Clinic in Burlington after a short illness. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late James J. and Nora (Moran) Carroll. Kathryn was raised in Somerville and was a graduate of Somerville High. She subsequently attended business school in Boston and was a court clerk in the Somerville District Court for over 20 years. She also worked for a time at the Winchester Star newspaper as a desk clerk. In her spare time she enjoyed dancing, especially ballroom and social dancing, and was an enthusiastic Boston Bruins hockey fan. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph F. Murray and the loving mother of Maureen Nelson of Medford, Sheila Gewertz of Watertown, Richard Murray of CA and the late Michael and Robert Murray. Mrs. Murray was also the dear sister of James J. Carroll of Peabody and the late Helen Shea. She is further survived by 7 grandchildren, including Tara Nelson and Erin Bisesti, 9 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Her funeral will be held from the Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester, on Mon., Sept. 14 at 9AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church at 10AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held in the funeral home on Sunday from 4-7 PM. Interment Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester.
