Obituary

DeARMOND, HAROLD WARD, 90 of Louisville passed away Monday September 7, 2009 at home with his wife by his side.

He was a native of Muhlenburg County. He worked for WHAS AM FM and TV for 29 years and and during that time was the engineer for the WHAS Crusade for Children for 23 of those years.

He was a member of Hazelwood Baptist Church and IBEW Local #369 since 1954. He was a Army Veteran during World War II who served in the 76th Infantry Division of Patton's 3rd Army. He served in three major battles: the Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe. Harold was also cited for his voluntary actions after the war ended.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Devona Carolyn Cantrell.

Survivors include his loving wife of almost 70 years, Eloise (Revelette) DeArmond; son, Billy Harold DeArmond; son-in-law, Joe Cantrell; grandchildren, Chipper and Craig DeArmond of New Mexico and Joseph DeArmond Cantrell, of Williamsburg, VA; great-grandchildren include Laura Elizabeth Cantrell, Jacob Charles Cantrell and Thomas Ward Cantrell; and sisters, Marjorie Topmiller and Annie Stuart of Greenville.

The family has chosen cremation. Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Hwy., is handling the arrangements.
