Roland H. Laurent, 74, of Gorham, NH, formerly of Lowell, died Saturday morning September 5, 2009 in the Merrimack Valley Hospice House, Lawrence. He was the long time companion of Agnes Wilson of Gorham.
Born in Lowell on March 2, 1935, he was a son of the late Elphege and Yvonne (Hubert) Laurent. He received his education in the Lowell school system.
An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country during the Korean Conflict as a member of the Army of the United States 188th Airborne Infantry.
Prior to his retirement ten years ago, Mr. Laurent had worked for many years in the paving industry.
He was an avid hunter, fisherman, trapper and gardener and was a lifetime member of the Tyngsboro Sportsman's Club.
In addition to his longtime companion, he was the loving father of David Laurent of Lowell, Diane and her husband Thomas Boyle of Lowell, Doreen and her husband Blake Bisson of Pepperell, Daniel Laurent and his wife Ellen of Dracut, and Dawn Laurent also of Dracut; devoted grandfather of thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; brother of Elphege, Richard, Claire, Cecile, Annette, Georgette and Laurette. He was also the brother of the late Alfred, Albert and Therese.
Friends may call at DRACUT FUNERAL HOME 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT, on Wednesday from 4 until 8 PM. His Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 11 AM in the funeral home. Cremation to follow.
