Obituary

James Ronald “Ronnie” Baker, 65, of Tifton died Monday, September 7, 2009, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 10, 2009, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Dr. W. Ches Smith, III will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 9, 2009, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Mr. Baker was born on September 28, 1943 in Tifton and was the son of Ruth Moore Baker of Tifton and the late Benjamim James Baker. He was retired from Target as a packer and of the Baptist faith. He had also served in the National Guard.

In addition to his mother, Mr. Baker is survived by his wife, Toni Norton Baker of Tifton; three daughters and sons-in-law, Yvette and Al Armstrong of Albany, Susan and Thomas Miner of Sulphur Springs, Texas and Jamie and Stephen Leavens of Sulphur Springs, Texas; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Franzle and Herb Meza of Jacksonville, Florida, Bennie and Bill Moore of Albany; and six grandchildren, Carmen Armstrong, Triston Pullen, Dylan Armstrong, Ryan Pullen, Lige Leavens and Orin Miner.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made in Ronnie’s name to Hospice of Tiftarea.
