Margaret A. (Sullivan) Sullivan, 96 years, of Brockton died Tuesday September 1, 2009 at the Braemoor Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. She was the wife of the late Thomas J. Sullivan and daughter of the late James J. and Catherine (Kiernan) Sullivan. Born and raised in Boston, she had been a resident of Brockton for over 50 years and had been employed by the Gillette Company in Boston for 38 years. Mrs. Sullivan was a prominent Brockton Democrat and a former member of the Brockton Democratic Ward and City Committees. She was a Regent of Catholic Daughters, former Vice President of Sinclair Post Auxiliary American Legion in Dorchester and member of the former Ireland’s Own. Mrs. Sullivan enjoyed traveling and bowling and had been a longtime communicant of St. Edward’s Church.
She is survived by a son, the Honorable Paul D. “Red” Sullivan of Brockton; 15 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Edward J. Sullivan and Thomas J. Sullivan, Jr. and sister of the late Helen Dolan, Catherine Sullivan, James Sullivan and Alice Lunny.
Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Friday Sept. 11 at 8am. Funeral Mass in Christ the King Parish at 9am. Burial in Massachusetts National Cemetery.
