Obituary

Thomas J. Armstrong, 70 of Norfolk, died Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at Caritas Norwood Hospital, upon his arrival there. He was the husband of Ethelyn M. (Ellis) Armstrong, and the late Eva M. (Muirhead) Armstrong, who died in 2005.

Born in Woonsocket, October 18, 1938, a son of the late Adam E. and Dorothea (Carney) Armstrong, he formerly lived in Uxbridge before moving to Norfolk.

He retired from the former Nu-Style Co. of Franklin as its manager. He served in the US Army in the early 1960's including the period of the Cuban Missle Crisis.

He enjoyed fishing, NASCAR auto racing and trips to Foxwoods.

Surviving in addition to his wife are 2 sons: Thomas J. Jr. of Westborough, Timothy J. of Rutland, MA; a daughter: Eva M. Marecaux of Millville; 3 stepsons: Robert Armstrong, Jr. of Norfolk, Michael J. Armstrong of Norfolk, George T. Armstrong of Bellingham; 3 brothers: William of Hyannis, Adam of Texas, John of Blackstone; 2 sisters: Jeannette Padula of Franklin, Mary Jane Gravel of Blackstone; 4 grandchildren and 7 step grandchildren.

He was the father of the late James T. Armstrong, and the brother of the late Richard F., Robert G. Armstrong, Estelle Sauvageau, and Patricia Dusablon.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hours Saturday, September 5, 2009 from 2 - 6 PM at the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home, 33 Cottage Street, Franklin.

His funeral and burial will be private and take place at a later time.
