Auburn—Mary Frances Conway, 85, of Auburn died Wednesday, September 2, 2009 from a short illness at UMASS Memorial Hospital. She is survived by her brother, Francis B. Conway and his wife Christine A. Conway of Las Cruces, NM, their two sons: Franz Conway and his wife Suzanne, and Thomas Conway and his wife Jerrilyn; Mary’s sister Dorothea ‘Doss’ E. Lehner and her husband Raymond ‘Ray’ A. Lehner of Charlton, MA, and their two children: Raymond ‘Skip’ A. Lehner Jr. and his wife Gina, and daughter Karen M. Mangini and her husband Mike; and five great nephews.
She was born June 7, 1924 in Worcester, MA, the daughter of Frank B. Conway (USN) and Mary G. (Malone) Conway. She graduated from Classical High School and served in the Coast Guard in World War II. She studied music at Boston University and taught music in the Framingham School District until her retirement. She was also a choir director/organist in Roxbury. She touched many lives as her heart was dedicated to sharing her gift of music with students for over 40 years. The one thing she cherished was sharing her time and memories with her niece and nephews.
Mary’s funeral will be held on Tuesday, September 8th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester with a Mass at 11:00 A.M. in St. Joseph’s Church, 189 Oxford Street. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Worcester. A calling hour will be held from 9:30 until 10:30 A.M. Tuesday in the funeral home.
