Paul E. Bourque, Sr., 78 of Derry, NH died Tuesday September 1, 2009 at the Pleasant Valley Nursing Center, Derry, NH. Mr. Bourque was born in Boston, MA on October 30, 1930. He had been a resident of Derry since 1988, formerly living in Lynn, MA for 57 years. Mr. Bourque attended Lynn schools and was a 1950 graduate of Lynn Vocational High School's first electrical class. He later served with the US Army during the Korean Conflict. In 1991 he retired from New England Telephone Co. where he had worked for 35 years. He was a member of the Elks Lodge 642 of Saugus and Everett, MA , the IBEW Local 2321, and was a life member of AMVETS Post 161 in Lynn. Mr. Bourque was also a member of the American Legion Post 27 in Londonderry, NH and a life member of the Halcyon Club of Derry. He enjoyed reading, listening to music, gardening and drawing pictures for family and friends in celebration of special events in their lives.
He is survived by his daughter, Carol Rubino of Salem, MA, three sons, Paul Bourque, Jr. of Amesbury, MA, Robert Bourque of Lynn, and James Bourque of Derry, his eight grandchildren and one niece and nephew. He also leaves several special people in his life including, Pam, Dick, Kendra, Janice and many friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara A. (Welsh) Bourque, his sister Audrey M. O'Hare and his longtime companion, Pearl Duyon.
Calling hours were held on Tuesday September 8, 2009 from 5 - 8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Calling hours will continue on Wednesday from 4 - 8pm at Solimine, Landergan and Richardson Funeral Homes, 426 Broadway, Lynn, MA. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:30am at St. Mary's Church in Lynn. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery in Lynn.
