Rita Ann (Morse) Mahoney, a lifelong resident of Medford and beloved wife of the late William J. Mahoney, died at the Blueberry Hill Nursing Center in Beverly on August 30, 2009. She was 91 years old.
Born in Belmont on September 18, 1917, she was the beloved daughter of the late John W. and Grace C. (Delaney) Morse. Rita was an avid reader and a longtime communicant of St. Joseph Church in Medford. A graduate of Medford High School, she was employed by Simmons Beauty Rest Mattress Company, where she was a builder of mattress’ and had worked at the Charlestown Navy Yard during WWII.
She will be sorely missed by one daughter and one son-in-law; Judith and her husband Frederick Mullett of Exeter, New Hampshire and one son; William J. Mahoney of Medford, She is also survived by seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Rita was the last surviving of twelve siblings. Funeral services were private.
