Edna Mae Ward Sims, 96, of Summerville, widow of Sidney J. Sims died Sunday, August 30, 2009 at her daughter’s residence.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, September 3 2009 at 10:30 at Old Fort Baptist Church, Summerville.
Burial will follow in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery, Florence at 3 o’clock.

Friends may visit at James A. Dyal Funeral Home from 6 until 8 o’clock Wednesday evening. Mrs. Sims was born August 22, 1913 in Florence, a daughter of the late Clarence and Ila Turner Ward. She was a graduate of Florence High School. She was a lifetime member of Old Fort Baptist Church and she was a member of Ladys Four Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for 65 years and she was a homemaker.
Survivors are: daughter: Janice and Twelver Purnell Orvig, Jr. of Summerville, son: Jack C. and Toni Wilson of Ocala, Florida, 5 grandchildren: John David and Laura Polutta of Ridgeville, SC, Jeffrey S. Polutta of Goose Creek, SC, Skip and Darlene Wilson, Karen Wilson and Jeff and Sharon Wilson all of Ocala, FL. 15 great grandchildren 5 great great children. Former daughter-in-laws: Louisa Polutta of Summerville and Tracy Polutta of North Charleston.
