LOWELL - Claire M. (Dempsey) Gacek, 79, of Lowell, died early Thursday morning August 27, 2009 in Saints Medical Center, Lowell. She was the wife of the late Walter Gacek who predeceased her in 1988.
Born in Lowell on August 6, 1930, she was a daughter of the late John Dempsey and the late Mary Blanche (Benoit) (Dempsey) Nolan. She received her education in the Lowell school system.
Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Gacek had been employed for many years as a clerk at the former S S Kresge and Woolworth Five and Dime Department Stores in Lowell.
She was a communicant of St. Michael Church in Lowell.
In her free time she enjoyed ceramics and music and cherished time spent in the company of her family and friends.
Surviving her are a daughter and son-in-law Sandra and Walter Dubey of Tyngsboro; a son Mark Gacek of Lowell and his companion Chrissy Poitras of Hudson, NH; a granddaughter Kristi Dubey of Manchester, NH; a great grandson Davin Rossi of Manchester, NH; a sister Mildred Silva of Pepperell; a brother and sister-in-law Raymond and Elaine Nolan of Lowell; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at DRACUT FUNERAL HOME 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT, on Sunday from 2 until 6 PM. Her Funeral will be held from the funeral home on Monday at 9 AM followed by her Funeral Mass celebrated at 10 AM in St. Michael Church, Lowell. Interment in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Lowell.
