DRACUT - Edwin J. Laba, 84, of Dracut, died Wednesday August 26, 2009, in Lowell General Hospital.
Born in Lowell on March 16, 1925, he was the son of the late Franciszek and Ann (Drozdowicz) Laba. He received his education in the Lowell school system and was a graduate of Lowell High School.
An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country proudly during World War II as a Seaman First Class in the United States Navy aboard the USS Bunker Hill and the USS Cabot.
Mr. Laba had been employed for over 50 years by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Transportation as a heavy equipment operator and truck driver.
He was a member of St. Casimir Church in Lowell as well as a member of the Polish American Veterans Club also in Lowell.
It being his wish, funeral services were private under the direction of DRACUT FUNERAL HOME 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT. Those who wish may make memorial contributions in his name to either the charity of their choice or to St. Casimir Church 268 Lakeview Ave., Lowell, MA 01850
