In Taunton, August 26, 2009 Rita A. Carter age 83 passed away after a brief illness. Rita was the wife of the late James F. Carter. She was born in Taunton to her late parents Frederick J. & Catherine (Rafferty) Williams. Rita lived most of her life in the Taunton and Berkley area. She retired from TMLP in 1984 after over 26 years of service. Rita was a member of the Jr. Womens Club, Mothers of Coyle High School, Taunton Art Association. She was an avid skier, enjoyed reading, painting and gardening and loved the beauty of living on the Taunton River. Rita leaves her children Richard Carter & his wife Laura of Taunton and Scott Carter & his wife Linda of North Dighton. Her grandchildren Eric Carter of Coloma, CA., Damon Carter of Providence, RI., Kerrin Driscoll of Braintree and Todd Carter of Charlestown and also her four great grandchildren. Her siblings Ruth King of Taunton, Katherine McMann of Taunton, Jean Carter of the Villages, FL., Mary Beth Pero of Colorado Srings, Donald Williams of Boynton Beach, FL., Robert Williams of Beverly, MA. and the late Frederick Williams. A funeral home service will be held at the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St. in Taunton on Tues., Sept. 1st at 12pm. Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours one hour prior to the service from 11-12pm. Interment is private at the request of the family.
