Obituary

Mr. Louis Costos, 86, formerly of Dracut passed away Friday August 21 at the Largo Medical Center in Largo, Florida.

He was born February 24, 1923 in Lowell, Massachusetts a son of the late Achilleas and Kitsa (Zingovas) Kostopoulos. Husband of sixty years to the late Bella (Tahtatgis) Costos whom pre-deceased him in October of 2005.

Mr. Costos was educated through the Lowell schools. Following his education he joined the U.S. Army and served his country during World War II with his brothers. Upon his return he became a Police Officer for the City of Lowell.

He retired from the Lowell Police Dept. and joined his wife Bella and the two of them began a forty year career in the restaurant and lounge business, opening there first establishment in 1950 called the Minuteman Restaurant in Lexington, Mass. Later opening, the Holiday Tea Room in Lowell and then the Plaza Restaurant, the Silver Fox Restaurant and Lounge and the Foxtail Restaurant and Lounge.

He was a member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell.

Mr. Costos is survived by his son, Charles Costos of Dracut, two daughters, Sunday Rice and her husband Harry of Georgia, Mary Ann Kabbaz and her husband Robert of Ohio, a brother, Charles Costos and his wife Kay of Florida, a sister in law, Elizabeth Costos of Florida; five grandchildren, Jonathon Costos of Dracut, Whitney Pease and her husband Jason of Georgia, Ashley Kemp and her husband David of Georgia, Michael Kabbaz of Chicago, and Marrissa Kabbaz of Ohio; three great grandchildren, Caroline and Sarah Pease, and Mary Whitman Kemp, many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Costos was the brother of the late George Costos and Christos Costos and brother in law to the late Catherine Costos.

Friends and relatives will be received at the M. R. LAURIN FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St, Lowell on Friday from 5pm to 8pm. His funeral will take place from the Funeral Home on Saturday at 10am to be followed by a funeral service at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell at 11am. Interment to follow in Lowell Cemetery. IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Holy Trinity Church, Lewis St. Lowell, Ma. 01854.
