Henry Warren Hunt, 79, Clarksville, died Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009, at his residence. The funeral will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday at Hilldale Church of Christ with Brother Steve Kirby officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday at the funeral home and from 11:00 AM until the hour of service Saturday at the church. Neal-Tarpley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He was born January 1, 1930, in Pleasant View, TN, son of John Hunt and Ollie Elizabeth Hardy Hunt.He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Robert Henderson Hunt and Clarence Winston Hunt
He was a Cheatham County High School graduate and received his Bachelors and Masters degree's at Austin Peay State University. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving a two-year tour in Germany. He was a public school teacher in Montgomery School, he taught at Moore School, Greenwood Junior High, Clarksville High School, he was the girl's basketball coach at Greenwood 9th grade building and freshman girl's basketball at Clarksville High School. The most important event and day of his life was when baptized. He was a member of the Church of Christ and preached in several rural congregations in the surrounding area for many years. After retiring from the pulpit he remained active in Madison Street Church of Christ and Hilldale Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife Betty Jo Slate Hunt of Clarksville, two sons David Warren(Rose Marie) Hunt of West Lafayette, IN, Steven Michael Hunt of Clarksville, two brothers Lewis Hardy Hunt of Pleasant View, John Edward Hunt of Oklahoma City, OK, two sisters Ruth Marie Scott of Dickson, Mary Eugenia Miles of Erin, two grandchildren Joshua David(Amanda) Hunt of Brownsburg, IN. and Naomi Marie(Sean Richards) Hunt of Houston, TX. Pallbearers will be David Schmittou, Joe Couch, Rusty Evans, Ken Gossett, Eugene Hinkle, George Rawlins, Blakey Bradley, Terry Ellis, Joe Marable and Harold Galbraith. Honorary pallbearers will be Leon McQueen, James Miller, L.C. Cathey, James H. Davis, Martin Dowlen, Jay Tucker, Darol Walker and John Richardson.
