Barbara H. (Corriveau) Flanders, 75 of Lakeport died at Hospice House in Concord on August 10, 2003 after a long and courageous battle with metastatic melanoma.
She was born in Laconia on May 26, 1928, the daughter of the late Edmund J. and Alice E. (Johnson) Corriveau. She graduated form Laconia High School in 1946 and, in recent years, organized many luncheons for her former classmates to enjoy. She also graduated from the Laconia Hospital School of Nursing with special training in obstetrics at Boston Lying-In Hospital in Boston.
She was a pediatrics nurse at Lakes Region General Hospital for many years. She worked for the State of NH at the Laconia State School and after her retirement did private duty care until her illness.
Barbara enjoyed cooking, concerts, reading mysteries, making puzzles, shopping with friends, family and travel.
She is survived by her sons, Kevin E. and wife Beth of Gilford, Leon B. Jr. and wife Dianne of Meredith, Brian W. of Lakeport, Michael S. of Manchester; a daughter, Lee-Ann of Laconia. In addition to her sons and daughter, Barbara is survived by four grandchildren, Joseph E. Thifault, Karla L. and Tracy L. Flanders and Brittany L. Flanders; two great grandchildren, Hunter M. and Sydney N. Thifault; her sister, Jean B. Corriveau of Surry, NH and a brother, Robert E. Corriveau of Duxbury MA. She has many close and caring friends who have said, “She was a true friend to many and made time to be helpful to everyone”.
A private graveside service will be held at Bayside Cemetery, Lakeport NH. Donations in her memory may be made to Community Health & Hospice Inc., 788 North Main St., Laconia NH 03246.The Simoneau & Lambert Funeral Home, 139 Church St. is assisting the family with arrangements.
