Maurice R. “Uncle Mike” Millette, 80, of St. Paul St., North Smithfield, died Monday, August 17th, at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence. He was the husband of the late Irene M. (Bacon) Millette.
Born in Manville, he was a son of the late Delphis and Georgiana (Guvermont) Millette. He was raised in Manville and lived many years in Woonsocket. He lived in Charlestown before moving to North Smithfield in 1992.
Mr. Millette served in the Army during the Korean War and received the Army Occupation Medal.
Mr. Millette worked for Owens-Coring in Ashton, and retired from Kenyon Peace Dye. Maurice also operated a barber shop on Wells St. in Woonsocket for many years and always had an open ear and warm smile for his many customers and friends.
Maurice was member of the American Legion. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed bingo, and had a passion for music.
He is survived by his companion, Helen Malo of North Smithfield, and was a loving “Uncle Mike” to several generations of nieces and nephews and their families. He was the brother of the late Armand Millette, and Gerard Millette, who died during WWII.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 10:00 am in St. Paul’s Church, St. Paul St., Blackstone. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Manville. Visiting hours are omitted. Memorial donations may be made to the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center, 1085 North Main St. Providence, RI. 02904. Arrangements are by the Menard Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave., Woonsocket.
