Bill R. Murphy, age 78, Of Wells, ME, formerly of Woburn, died Saturday morning, August 22, 2009, after brief illness. Born in Boston, Bill was the son of the late Marion (MacInnis) & William A. Murphy.
Bill graduated from Boston Technical High School and Northeastern University. He served proudly during Korean War with the US Army from 1948 to 1952. He then went on and worked at Lincoln Laboratories as an Electronic Technician. Some of the projects he worked on were with NASA and the Dept. of Transportation.
In retirement Bill loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed a good round of golf and everyone loved his sense of humor.
Bill his survived by his beloved wife Arlene R. (Miller) Murphy. Devoted father of Laura Murphy and her husband Dave Pandolph of Methuen, Maureen Murphy and her husband Steve Boynton of Andover, Bill Murphy and his wife Jane of Ashland, Kathy Pavlik and her husband Dave of Woburn, Janice Coccoluto and her husband Jeff of Stoneham, and Jim Murphy of Westborough.
Loving grandfather of Caitlin Pandolph, Ryan Murphy, Adam Pandolph, Sarah Murphy, Meredith Coccoluto, Noah Coccoluto, Keeley Pavlik, Mitchell Pavlik, Kenzie Boynton, and Drew Boynton.
Brother of Marion Dempsey of Norwell, Christine Ryan of Dorchester, Delores Quill of Pembroke and the late Marguerite Kenney.
Funeral from the McLaughlin-Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., Woburn, Wednesday at 9 AM. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Barbara Church, 138 Cambridge Rd., Woburn at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Tuesday 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
It has been requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made in Bill’s name to American Parkinson’s Disease Association, 135 Parkinson Ave. Staten Island, NY 10305.
