Salem: Juliette J. Marquis, age 95, died Sunday, August 23, 2009 at the Essex Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Beverly, following a long illness. She was the daughter of the late Joseph H. and Eugenie (Chouinard) Marquis.
Born in Lowell, Julie and her family moved to Salem in 1926, where she graduated from St. Joseph Academy. She began working in the office of Bursaw Oil Co. of Salem and later of Danvers. She retired as office manager in 1979.
Always the lady, and a woman of boundless energy, following her retirement, she did part time work in the St. Joseph Parish office. Julie and several of her devoted friends ran the St. Theresa’s Thrift Shop for many years. She was also active in the St. Joseph Alumni Assoc. and member of Congregation Notre Dame Reine des Apotres.
Julie was a wonderful giving aunt who will be missed by her many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
She was the sister of the late Lionel & George Marquis, Marie Taché, Doris J. Webb and Theresa Madison and is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem on Thursday, August 27, 2009 at 9 a.m., to be followed by her funeral mass in St. James Church, Federal St., Salem at 10 a.m. Visiting hours: Wednesday 4 to 6 p.m. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
