Obituary

Edward H. Leonard of Canton passed away August 22nd at home surrounded by his loving family. He was 85. Born on April 24, 1924 in Chelsea to Irene (Leavitt) and Francis Leonard. Raised in Revere, Ed graduated from Revere High School. Ed was employed for over 50 years by the Boston newspapers. He retired from the Boston Globe. He was a veteran of World War II and the recipient of the Purple Heart. Mr. Leonard has been a resident of Canton for over 50 years where he was known as a good and quiet man who loved his dogs. Ed loved playing Bingo at all of the local halls he played seven days a week. He was an avid reader, loved to travel and go to Foxwoods for recreation. Beloved husband of Mary E. (Hubbard) the late René(DeLeener).Loving father of Joseph of Raynham, Steven of Stoughton. Step-father to Richard Hubbard of Brockton, Raymond Hubbard of Abington and Thomas J. Hubbard of Canton. Brother of Francis of Revere and the late John. Also survived by 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton, Wed 3–6 pm. Funeral Service at Dockray & Thomas Thurs morning at 11. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Canton. Relatives & friends invited to attend. In lieu of flowers donation in Ed’s name can be made to Caritas Good Samarian Hospice, 3 Edgewater Dr. Norwood, MA 02062.
