SUTTON__ Edward T. Gedymin, 87, of Sutton, died Sunday, August 16, 2009. His wife of fifty-nine years, Ruth M. (Olson) Gedymin died March 22, 2009.
He leaves a daughter, Gayle A. Kendrick and her husband, Donald also of Sutton; a sister, Irene Jacobsen of West Boylston; two grandsons, Daniel and Daryl Kendrick of Sutton; a step grandson, Derrick Kendrick and his wife Wendy of Webster; a step great-granddaughter, Liberty, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Monica Budzyna. He was born in Worcester, the son of John and Victoria (Sadowski) Gedymin.
Mr. Gedymin was a co-owner during the 1980’s of the Lake Ripple Restaurant, Grafton, the Blarney Stone, Worcester, and Ramshorn Realty. Prior to that, he worked for C&S Wholesale Grocers as Vice President of the Frozen Foods Division. Edward was a proud World War II Veteran serving with the U.S. Coast Guard in the Pacific Theatre. He was a member of Vernon Hill Post #435, American Legion for over 60 years. He was also a member of St. Mark’s Church in Sutton. After retiring he worked at St. Marks Church as a caretaker. It was there he used his carpenter skills and talents to facilitate enhancements of the church properties. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School, Worcester. Along with his wife, Mr. Gedymin enjoyed traveling throughout the world, gardening, living at his lake front home with his family and especially spending time with his beloved grandchildren whom he was so proud of.
Ed’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Summit Elder Care, and his home health aide Stacey for all that they have done for him over the past months.
The memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. in DIRSA - MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton Street, Worcester. A calling hour will be held before the service from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Summit Elder Care, 1369 Grafton St., Worcester, MA 01604.
