Josephine M. (Calf) Lang, 86 of Franklin died August 20 in her home following a long illness. She was the wife of Earl F. Lang.
Born in Walpole, March 1, 1923, the daughter of the late Jeremiah and Zita (Matthews) Calf, Mrs. Lang was raised in Walpole and had lived in Franklin since 1957.
Mrs. Lang had worked at Dean College for 18 years before retiring as a bookkeeper.
Mrs. Lang was long active in Franklin affairs; she was a past Girl Scout and Boy Scout den mother. She was a longtime member of the Franklin Democratic Town Committee and a poll worker for the Town for many years.
Mrs. Lang was deeply involved with her Church and had been a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Women’s Club and a member of the Disabled American Veterans Ladies Auxiliary.
Mrs. Lang loved to dance and was voted best dancer in her graduating class from Walpole High School.
Mrs. Lang’s loves were her Town, Her Church and her family.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, David P. Lang of Franklin, Michael G. Lang and his wife, Maria of Seminole, Florida, Mary E. Lang-Coroniti and her husband, Frank of Milford, Carol Z. Lang and her husband, Paul Howard of Needham, Nancy A. Lang and her husband, Dave Williams of Glen Allen, Virginia, Jeanne E. Kellogg and her husband, Charles of Hopedale and Christine L. Padula and her husband, Jimmy of Milford.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kenneth Armstrong, Melanie, Bradford and Andrew Kellogg, Melissa Lang and Kyra Cardullo.
Mrs. Lang was the sister of the late Frank Calf.
Her funeral will be held on Monday, August 24 from the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main St. in Franklin at 10:15 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church at 11:00 a.m.
Burial will be in Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.
Calling hours will be on Sunday from 4-8 p.m.
