Eunice M. Roy, 76

Eunice M. (Hicks) Roy, 76, of Charlotte passed away peacefully after a long illness at Golden Living Dartmouth in Charlotte on Wednesday August 19, 2009. She was the beloved wife of the late Ernest A. Roy, Sr. who died in 2004.
Born in Boston, MA on September 14, 1932 she was a daughter of the late Francis S. and Dorothy (MacPhee) Hicks.
She spent her early childhood living in Randolph. Her family later moved to Norton where she continued her education and was a graduate of Norton High School.
A dedicated homemaker to her adoring family, she was an avid tennis player and true sports enthusiast and enjoyed attending her families sporting events. A resident of Charlotte for the past 43 years she was a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society in Charlotte and while residing in Norton was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church where she and her late husband were married.
Her family especially wishes to thank the staff of Golden Living Dartmouth, Hospice of Greater Charlotte area and Father Mark Lawlor for his many visits and prayers.
Eunice is survived by her devoted children Cheryl Wagner and her husband Ron of Charlotte, Karen Helms of Charlotte, Susan Stacom of Jamestown, Rhode Island, Ernest A. Roy, Jr. of Duncan, South Carolina and Eunice Bridges of Virginia Beach, Virginia. She was the dear sister of Debbie Kennelley of Valparaiso, Indiana and the late Dorothy Logan and Frank Hicks. Also surviving are her cherished 11 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Monday August 24th at 9:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church 133 South Worcester St. Norton. Burial will follow in the Timothy Plain Cemetery, Norton.
Visiting hours are omitted and in lieu of flowers Eunice’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to Hospice of Charlotte 1420 East Seventh St. Charlotte, NC 28204.
