Mrs. Antoinette R. D'Apice, age 95 of Charlestown died Monday in Woodbriar Of Wilmington. She was the wife of the late Generoso D’Apice. Mrs. D'Apice was born in Avellino Italy, daughter of the late Dominic and Michelina (Cardinale) DeChristoforo. She came to the United States at the age of 6 and settled in Boston’s North End with her parents and sister. Raised on Prince St. she attended local schools. In 1941 she moved to Charlestown where she remained for the rest of her life.
In early years she worked in Boston as a seamstress. She also worked as a Fancy Packer in Schrafft's Candy Company. In later years she worked at Sweetheart Cup until her retirement in 1982. A strong, family minded woman, she was known for her great cooking talent. She loved to work in her garden and grew the most beautiful flowers. In 1987 she and her daughter toured Italy and saw her childhood town and province of Avellino.
She is survived by a daughter Teresa Vitale and her husband Ron of Charlestown, a son Dominic D'Apice and his wife Barbara of Billerica and is the mother of the late Rudolph D’Apice. Loving grandmother of 8 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren. Sister of the late Grace Jesso. Friends may call on Thursday from 4 thru 8 at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Benedict Church, 21 Hathorne Street, Somerville, Friday at 10 AM. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
