Murray Brown of Revere and formerly of Chelsea and Malden, passed away on August 17, at the age of 92. Born in Chelsea, MA, he was a long-time resident of that city, where his family lived for many years. He was educated in Chelsea public schools and graduated from Chelsea High School. Murray also attended Northeastern University. He was employed for most of his adult life as a meat cutter with the Stop and Shop Companies. He was a life-long member and also President of Congregation Agudos Shalom (the Walnut Street Synagogue) in Chelsea. He was an active member of the Shriners and the Masons Golden Fleece Lodge in Lynn.
Murray was the beloved husband of the late Rose (Cohen), with whom he shared 40 years of marriage. He was the devoted father of Alvin Brown and his wife, Karolyn of Randolph, Andrea Brown Berman and her late husband Edward of Revere, and the late Sandra Kaplan and her husband, Sidney. He was the loving grandfather of Jeffrey Kaplan and his wife Melanie, Jayne (Kaplan) Bradley and her husband Christopher, Stacy (Brown) Morrison and her husband Eugene, Melissa Brown, Allison (Berman) Biggio and her husband William, and Andrew Berman. He was the adored great grandfather of Megan and Neil Bradley, Shawna and Jeremy Kaplan, Emily and William Morrison, and Ella Rose and Lucy June Biggio. He was the dear companion of the late Lillian Costa, Uncle of Cindy Tatelman and many nieces and nephews.
Murray was a kind and gentle man, who had many, many friends. His greatest pleasures included spending time with his family, attending daily prayer services and organizing programs at his beloved Temple, walking along Revere Beach, and in his later years, holding hands with his sweetheart, Lil, while watching the Game Channel on television. He was always working on one of his “word search” puzzles, or chatting with neighbors from Liston Towers in Beachmont, where he lived. For the past 2 years, he was a resident of Chelsea Skilled Nursing Center on Broadway, Chelsea, and was cared for by an amazing group of dedicated and loving staff members, who quickly became his friends. His family is deeply appreciative of all of their hard work and assistance. Murray always had a joke, a smile, and a loving heart, and will be missed by all whose lives he touched.
