Mary Sheffield Cleghorn, 82 , of Mystic, GA, died Monday, August 17, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Wednesday, August 19, 2009, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Roger Tucker officiating. Interment will follow in Big Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Irwin County. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Cleghorn was born May 12, 1927 in Irwin County to the late Luther A. and Ida Belle Gay Sheffield. She was former owner and operator of Cleghorn’s Grocery on Irwinville Highway, former manager of Quick Change in Mystic, GA, and former employee of the Monarch and Oxford Company.
Mrs. Cleghorn is survived by daughters: Linda Clark and Helen (John Ed) Cowan, both of Fitzgerald and Sandra (Tommy) Stanley of Abbeville; Son: Johnny (Paula) Cleghorn of Mystic, GA; 8 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Along with her husband, Cecil John Cleghorn, Sr., she was preceded in death by one grandson, 5 brothers, and 3 sisters.
