Sheila A. (Harrington) Burns, 80, of New Bedford died Saturday August 15, 2009 at the Oaks Nursing Center after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Edward J. Burns, Sr.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna G. (Lynch) Harrington, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
Mrs. Burns was formerly employed as a nurse in several local nursing homes until her retirement.
She enjoyed antique furniture.
Her family would like to thank the entire staff of the Oaks for the exceptional care given to Sheila during her illness.
Survivors include four sons, Daniel F. Burns of Westport, Edward J. Burns, Jr. of New Bedford, Michael J. Burns and his wife Cathleen of Acushnet, and Timothy P. Burns and his wife Leslie of New Bedford; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was the mother of the late James Burns and sister of the late Eileen Harrington.
