Obituary

Carney of Brockton, August 5, 2003, Edward J. Carney, 87 years. Son of the late Michael J. and Helen (Mahoney) Carney. Beloved brother of Helen R. Kearney of Brockton and the late Mary Carney, Eileen Cure, Josephine Keating and Teresa E. Hallisey. Dear friend of Marie Pelaggi of Brockton. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours at the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Tuesday 9 to 10:30 am. Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Rosary Church, Stoughton Tuesday at 11 am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Donations in Edward’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Assoc., 36 Cameron Ave.,Cambridge, MA 02140.

Obituary

Mr. Carney died Tuesday evening at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center after a brief illness. Born, raised and a lifelong resident of Brockton. He was the son of the late Michael J. and Helen (Mahoney) Carney. He attended St. Patrick School and graduated from Brockton High School Class of 1934. During WW II he served in the US Army as a Sergeant in the South Pacific 1941-1945. He received the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon with a Bronze Star Medal. He had been employed by the New England Bell Telephone Company as a Lineman for 45 years until his retirement in 1987. He enjoyed Ballroom dancing and would travel throughout New England. He was an avid golfer and was a former member at DW Field Golf Course and also played at Thorney Lea. He had been a member of the Telephone Pioneers. Communicant of Our Lady of Rosary Church in Stoughton.

Survived by a sister Helen R. Kearney of Brockton and a dear friend Marie Pelaggi of Brockton. and many nieces and nephews.

Brother of the late Mary Carney, Eileen Cure, Josephine Keating and Teresa E. Hallisey.
