Mary Carolyn Boykin Bruce, 67, of Berrien County, died Saturday, August 15, 20009, at her daughter’s residence in Blackwell, Oklahoma. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2009, in Turner Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Pat Hale-Suggs will officiate with burial to follow in Turner Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 21, 2009, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Ms. Bruce was born on May 20, 1942 in Berrien County and was the daughter of Ben E. Boykin and Mary Elizabeth “Lizzy” Luke Boykin, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, George Bruce. She was a homemaker and of the Pentecostal faith. She had lived her whole life in Berrien County until moving to Oklahoma.
Ms. Bruce is survived by four daughters and three sons-in-law, Sheryl and Jimmy Webb of Nashville, Jamie Carolyn Cline of Blackwell, Oklahoma, Sandra and Kenny Short of Virginia and Marsha Lynn and Bennie Pettis of Blackwell, Oklahoma; one brother, Cecil Boykin of Berrien County; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren.
