Dane I. Parker, 84, of Fitzgerald, died Sunday, August 16, at Osceola Nursing Home in Ocilla.
Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Wednesday, August 19 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Lloyd Stembridge officiating. Interment will follow in Arbor Cemetery. Visitation will be held 7-9 Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Parker was born December 17, 1924 in Fitzgerald to the late Ivey L. and Lola Belle Robitzsch Parker. He lived in Fitzgerald most of his life and was a former resident of Pitts. Mr. Parker was retired staff manager for Life & Casualty Life Insurance Company. He was a veteran of the United States Navy during World War II. Mr. Parker was an active member of Arbor Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, director of the Sunday school department and a teacher, Training Union director and sang in the choir. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife: Louise Chasteen Parker of Fitzgerald; sons and daughters-in-law: Tracy & Tammy Parker and Tim & Julie Parker, all of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Dana Parker, Jess Parker, Zach (Lauren) Parker, Matt Parker and Rachel Parker; great grandchildren: Kyra, Kady and Khloe; sister: Helen Dabbs of Laurel, MS. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson: Preston Parker, one brother and two sisters.
