Marylon Columbus Collier, 88, of Lenox died Sunday, August 16, 2009, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2009, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Nathan Greer and Rev. Dillard Ensley will officiate with burial to follow at Lakeview Baptist Church Cemetery in Lenox. Dylan Collier, Randy Collier, Miguel Collier, Leroy Collier, Jonathan Suggs and James Dorman will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 18, 2009, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Collier was born on September 30, 1920 in Colquitt County and was the son of Jack Collier and Mattie Robinson Collier, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Christine Dorman Cosper Collier. He was the last of his family and was also preceded in death by four brothers, Henry Collier, Jim Collier, Howard Collier and Robert Collier; and six sisters, Missouri Collier, Carrie Collier, Maggie Collier, Leonie Collier, Eula Collier and Maddie Collier. He was a retired farmer and of the Baptist faith. He served in the United States Army for three years during World War II.
Mr. Collier is survived by five sons, Larry Collier of Tifton, Billy Collier of Tifton, Jerry Collier of Adel, Ray Dorman of Tifton, Raymond Dorman of Omega, and one daughter and son-in-law, Wanda Sue and Emerson Collier of Omega; several grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and very special friends, Vernell and Mac Barber.
