Albert Parkerson, Sr., 68, of Tifton died Sunday, August 16, 2009, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2009, at Oak Grove Baptist Church. Rev. Nat McCalvin and Rev. Kevin Harris will officiate with burial to follow in Old Ty Ty Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. John Setters, Bruce Donaldson, Josh Fender, Steven Kelly, Charles Mullis, Robert Mullis and Roy Mullis will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Oak Grove Baptist Church. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 18, 2009, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Parkerson was born on July 3, 1941 in Homerville and was the son of Mattie Lou Monk Woods of Tifton and the late William B. Parkerson. In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by one son, Albert Parkerson, Jr. He was a retired truck driver and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Parkerson is survived by his wife, Betty Sue Mullis Parkerson of Tifton; one daughter, Mary Lou Rackley of Ty Ty; one brother, Henry Parkerson of Enigma; two sisters, Faye Tawzer of Tifton and Joan Hayes of Brookfield; two granddaughters and their spouses, Heather and Robert Weeks and Lauren Anderson; and one great grandson, Jayden Weeks.
