Francis “Frenchy” Moreau, 82, died Saturday at Golden Crest Health Care Center in North Providence. He was the husband of the late Josephine (Diorio) Moreau who died in 1985.
Born and raised in Pawtucket, Mr. Moreau served in the United States Marine Corps and participated in the occupation of China immediately following WWII.
He resided in Manville, Cumberland, and Woonsocket.
Mr. Moreau was employed as a union carpenter and in his younger years worked at several textile mills in the area.
Frenchy served as a volunteer with the Manville Fire Department. He was a car enthusiast and took pleasure in attending car shows and traveling over the road with his wife.
He was predeceased by his parents and all of his siblings. He is survived by his close friends, including Robert Burns of Woonsocket and Alfred Burns of Burrillville.
His funeral will be Wednesday at 9:00 am from the Menard Funeral Home, 71 Central St., Manville, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. James Church, Division St. Manville. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland. Visiting hours are Wednesday morning from 8:30 -9:45 am prior to Mass.
