Vernon Elvin Greene, 76, Clarksville, died Saturday, August 15, 2009, at his residence. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Neal-Tarpley Chapel with Brother James Black and Brother Clifford Smith officiating. Burial will be in Greene Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday and from 12 p.m. until the time of the service Monday at the funeral home. Neal-Tarpley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He was born July 30, 1933 in Montgomery County son of the late Hayden Bradley Greene and Lillie Hamilton Greene. Mr. Greene was a US Army Veteran and a self-employed masonry contractor. Survivors include his wife, Sarah Lucille Greene, three sons, Wayne Greene (Betty), Robert E. Greene and Kenneth Otis Greene (Lisa); a daughter, Vicki Parker, (Byron) all of Clarksville; two brothers, Pete Greene (Imogene), and Wendell Greene (Sharon); four sisters, Beatrice Blackwell, Laverda McCreary, Evelyn Davis, and Grace Britt (J.C.); thirteen grandchildren, Heather and Jim Kelly, Michelle Kirby, Vernon and Laura Greene, Jordon and Tommy Webster, Kaycie Greene, Eric Greene, Cory (Twinky) Greene, Lindly Leichner, Zachary Parker, and J.B. Parker; six great-grandchildren, Josh and Brooke Kelly, J.T. and Anthony Webster, Bryson and Clayton Durbin. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Coleman.
