Josephine Rocci, of Medford, died Thursday, August 13, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was 89. Born in Philadelphia, she was the cherished daughter of the late Mary (Sessa) and Frank Marzullo. It was in Philadelphia where she would meet her beloved husband Alfonse Rocci, before he left to fight in World War II the couple married. They would have celebrated 66 years of marriage later on this month.
Mrs. Rocci was a well known for her love of baking, she worked as a baking instructor at the Cambridge Ringe and Latin High School for several years prior to her retirement. She also received several commendations from Harvard University for her catering work in many events held by the school. Most notably, she provided a native dessert for each of the many countries present at a multi-national conference held at the University. She also had a special fondness for animals, especially her cats.
Devoted to her family, she enjoyed cooking for them and often held backyard parties for family and friends. In addition to her beloved husband Alfonse Rocci, she is survived by her cherished daughter Carol Rocci and niece, Adeline Rocci all of Medford. Also survived by several siblings in Philadelphia, PA and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, August 18 in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford at 10 AM. Relatives and friend are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Monday 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
