
Andre G. Dubois, age 80, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 14th, 2009 at Lowell General Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Mariette (McKercher) Dubois, with whom he celebrated a 58th anniversary on Aug. 4th.
He was born in Montreal, Canada on April 3, 1929, a son of the late Clovis and Blanche (Bernier) Dubois. Andre resided in Lowell for the past 40 years and was formerly of Montreal where he met his beloved wife, Mariette. They moved to Lowell in 1969 along with their 2 children and attended the former Ste. Jeanne d'Arc Parish.
Prior to his retirement, Andre was employed in shipping and receiving with Majilite Corp. in Dracut for 10 years. Prior to that time, he was a supervisor with Bradford Industries in Lowell for 25 years.
In his earlier years while living in Montreal, he was an excellent ice skater and enjoyed playing hockey and softball, two sports he excelled at. Andre was also an avid golfer and a member of Longmeadow Golf Club in Lowell for 35 years. He also loved spending time with his family and was an all around handyman.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Mona and Jimmy Champoux of Lowell, a son and daughter-in-law, Jean and Donna Dubois of Lowell; three grandchildren, Eric Durand and his wife Paula of Hudson, NH who are expecting his first great grandchild in September, Brad Durand of Mont Laurier, Canada, and Jessica Dubois of Hudson, NH; two brothers, Jean and Rene Dubois of Canada; also many nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law and dear friends. He was pre-deceased by 4 brothers and a sister.
There will be no calling hours. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his Funeral Mass on Wednesday morning, Aug. 19, at 9 o'clock at Ste. Marguerite D'Youville Parish, (Ste Therese Church) Dracut. Interment will be private.
