Dorothy Smith Reed, 46, joined her Heavenly Father on Friday, August 14, 2009. Funeral services and a celebration of her life will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Northridge Baptist Church with burial at 4:30 p.m. in Evergreen Cemetery, Fitzgerald, GA. The Rev. Bob Hamilton and the Rev. B. J. Funk will officiate. The family will meet friends from 4 – 6 p.m. Sunday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Cherry Street and asks that those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Dorothy Reed Children’s Scholarship Fund, 182 W. Clinton Street, Gray, GA 31032.
Mrs. Reed, daughter of the late William C. and Marcelle Hunter Smith, was born in Fitzgerald. She was a graduate of Fitzgerald High School and Ben Hill - Irwin Tech where she was a nominee in the GOAL Program. Mrs. Reed was a night processor with Security Bank and State Bank and Trust. She was a member of Northridge Baptist Church where she was very active in the life of her church and was a member of the Church Choir. She was the sister of the late Matthew Smith who died in 2008.
She will be missed by those who loved her most: her husband, Steve Reed of Macon; three daughters, Dafani Smith, Candi Morris and Lacey Morris, all of Macon; five sisters, Juanita Gatch of Charleston, SC, Jackie (Tim) Walston of Foxfield, CO, Mabel (Perry) Stallings of Raleigh, NC, Alice (Billy) Prescott of Fitzgerald and Rhonda (Robert ) Pridgen of Wray, GA; four brothers, Ward Smith of St. Petersburg, FL, Ben (Glenda) Smith of Lyons, GA, Ralph (Gwen) Smith of Fitzgerald, Ken (Marcia) Smith of Avondale Estates, GA; her sister-in-law, Ginny Smith of Lexington, SC; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
