Doreen A. "Cookie" Henry, 62, of Land O'Lakes, FL, formerly of New Bedford, died July 1, 2009 at University Hospital in Tampa.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Domingo A. "Red" Henry and Alice M. (Morris) Henry, she lived in New Bedford for many years before moving to Florida.
Doreen was employed as an admissions representative at Florida Technical College. She had previously been employed as the New Bedford area recruiter for Bristol Community College.
Doreen received an Associate's degree from Bristol Community College, a Bachelor of Science degree in human resourse management from UMass Dartmouth, and a Master's degree in human resourse management from Emmanuel College.
She is survived by her aunt, Rose Lawson; her goddaughter, Tara Pina; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was the sister of the late Anthony D. Henry and Randall R. Henry.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday August 21, 2009 at 9 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Thursday from 4-7 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
