Obituary

LOWELL - John J. "Jack" Barrett, Sr., age 70, a lifelong Lowell resident, died Wednesday, August 12th at Saints Medical Center in Lowell. He was the beloved husband of Carole A. (Birch) Barrett, to whom he was married for 40 years.

He was born in Lowell on June 23, 1939, and he was a son of the Helen (Abbott) Ridolfi of Spring Hill, FL and the late James Barrett. He received his education in Lowell schools.

Prior to his retirement, Mr. Barrett was employed for many years as a bricklayer by Clark Brothers Masonry. He was also co-owner of Barrett Real Estate in Dracut with his wife.

In his free time he enjoyed gambling, especially playing the slots, cards, and bingo. He also enjoyed fishing, golf, spending time with his friends and family, and his beloved duct tape. His family remembers him for being very inventive, and having a great sense of humor.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by a son, John J. Barrett, Jr. of Lowell; three daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and George Levitsky of Atlanta, GA, Elizabeth and Gregory McGowan of Wilmington, and Donna and Joseph Caouette of Pelham, NH; seven grandchildren, Ryan, Liam, Alyssa, Jared, Aidan, Devin and Andrew; a brother and sister-in-law, James and Donna Barrett of Edgewater, FL; a sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Peter DeSilvio of Sanbornville, NH; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT, on Tuesday from 4 until 8pm. His Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 11am in the funeral home, with cremation to follow.
