Obituary

George A. Heller, 83 years old, husband of Dorothy (Reynolds) Heller who survives him, died Tuesday afternoon at Lowell General Hospital.
Born in Long Beach CA, he was the son of the late Arthur and Mary (Pinder) Heller. He came to Lowell as a young boy and received his education in the Lowell Schools. Mr. Heller also attended Northeastern University.
During World War II, Mr. Heller served his country in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. Ticonderoga. Many years ago, he worked at the Courier Citizen Corporation in Lowell. Following his employment at Courier, Mr. Heller was a Letter Carrier and Clerk for the Lowell Post Office for twenty nine years. While at the Post Office, he was the President of the Lowell Postal Credit Union for many years. Following his retirement he was a Gate Man for Friend Lumber in Lowell.
Mr. Heller had many interests in his life but none more important to him than that of his family, his hobbies and his love for the study of the history of the City of Lowell.
In addition to his wife Dorothy, he is survived by a son and daughter in law, James G. Heller and his wife Karen Davidson Heller of Lowell; two grandchildren, Aaron J. and Jonathan T. Heller both of Lowell; a sister in law, Ann M. Reynolds of Lowell; dear friends, Dawn and Paul McLaughlin of Pelham, NH and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Heller was the brother in law of the late Henry B. and Thomas F. Reynolds.
HELLER- Relatives and friends may call on Friday, August 14 from 9 until 10:30 am at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 NESMITH STREET, (Rte. 38). His Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 am at the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH, LOWELL followed by burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Tewksbury. Donations in his memory may be made to the Lowell Wish Project, 1 A Foundry Street, Lowell, MA. 01852. Arrangements are by the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, LOWELL.
