Eva B. Rogers, 87, passed away peacefully at St. Lukes Hospital on August 11, 2009 surrounded by family and friends. Eva was the widow of Herbert Rogers and mother of the late Karlton H. Rogers. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Laura (Souza) Fernandes and brother Charles Fernandes predeceased her . Eva lived her life in the New Bedford / Dartmouth area and was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in So. Dartmouth.
In earlier years, Eva worked at Aerovox Corporation as a winder and later was employed for the Dartmouth School system at Dartmouth High School as a custodian / matron. She was loved by all the students.
Eva will be remembered for her fun - loving spirit. She excelled in cooking, gardening, sewing , line dancing and the love of the color purple.
She is survived by a niece Charlene A. Correia of Acushnet, a nephew Douglas C. Fernandes of Sarasota , Florida and an exceptional caring and special friend, Shirely Rose
Mrs. Roger’s Funeral will be from the Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. on Friday at 8 A.M. with a Funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Church Padanaram at 10 A.M. Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Friday morning only.
